The Israeli government has announced a large-scale program aimed at making homeownership more accessible to IDF reservists.

Over the next two years, 20,000 housing units and plots of land will be offered under preferential conditions, with discounts that could exceed NIS 500,000 (approximately $167,000) per beneficiary.

Presented by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Housing Minister Haim Katz, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the program will make 16,000 apartments available through the government’s “Target Price” scheme, along with approximately 4,000 plots of land designated for the construction of single-family homes.

Formerly known as “Buyer’s Price,” the “Target Price” program enables eligible first-time buyers to purchase newly built homes below market value through state-organized lotteries. In recent years, IDF reservists have gradually been granted priority in the allocation of these homes.

According to the government, the new initiative responds to strong demand. In the most recent lottery, 25,354 reservists registered, with 4,734 ultimately securing housing.

Under the new plan, 75% of the apartments offered will be primarily reserved for reservists, as a means of recognizing their contribution to the country’s security.

The housing units and plots will be made available gradually throughout 2026 and 2027. According to the government, the initiative is intended to help reservists cope with rising real estate prices while making it easier for them to achieve homeownership.
