South African royals visit Israel’s Magen David Adom headquarters

A delegation of South African royalty visited the Magen David Adom headquarters in Ramla on Sunday.

The delegation of royals arrived at MDA headquarters for a tour of MDA's National Human Milk Bank, which collects, tests, and provides approximately 530 liters of breast milk each month.

The delegation also toured numerous training and medical facilities, from MDA's National Emergency Dispatch Center to the new National Blood Bank, the first underground facility of its kind in the world.

They also inspected MDA's unique and specialized emergency vehicles, such as intensive care buses, all-terrain vehicles, emergency motorcycles, and more.

They also received an overview of MDA's operations throughout the war with Iran.

"My experience in Israel was life-changing," Princess Nandi Nobukhosi Maphothi said. "It reminded me of the power of cooperation and partnerships, and that at the heart of humanity is respect for human values, which is the most important thing."

"Even when there are disagreements, we must know how to 'agree to disagree,' work together on the areas where we share common ground, and always strive to find shared solutions. I look forward to returning home and sharing everything I have learned from this amazing place."

MDA Director General Eli Bin praised the trip for allowing MDA to showcase its "technological, operational and humanitarian activities," as well as for helping bring together people from different cultures and communities.

The delegation was organized after King Dalindyebo of the AbaThembu Kingdom of the Xhosa tribe visited Israel in 2025. King Dalindyebo was impressed by MDA's capabilities and pushed for royals from neighboring kingdoms and tribes to come and see the work firsthand.

South Africa is a republic, but its constitution recognizes several raditional monarchies and royal families who hold ceremonial and cultural authority over particular ethnic communities rather than governing the country.
