Two Israeli institutions managed to enter the list of the top one hundred universities in the world according to the prestigious Shanghai Ranking of World Universities. The Weizmann Institute was placed 71st, similar to last year, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem dropped one place to 89th on the list.

The Shanghai ranking evaluates around 2,500 universities worldwide each year, based on criteria like the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals awarded to alumni and academic staff, highly cited researchers, and publications in the world's leading scientific journals.

American and British universities maintained their positions at the top of the list. Harvard University achieved first place, receiving a perfect score in the ranking.

Stanford University came in second place, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in third place, the University of Cambridge in fourth place, and the University of California, Berkeley in fifth place.
