Ultra-Orthodox protesters rally at IDF recruitment office for second day
The protest followed a similar demonstration on Sunday that aimed to interfere with an enlistment day for ultra-Orthodox recruits
Dozens of ultra-Orthodox protesters gathered outside the military recruitment office at the Tel Hashomer IDF base on Monday morning, continuing demonstrations against efforts to enlist members of their community.
Some protesters spent the night at the site and sought to disrupt operations by blocking nearby roads. Police and Border Police officers were deployed to clear the routes and remove demonstrators obstructing traffic.
The protest followed a similar demonstration on Sunday that aimed to interfere with an enlistment day for ultra-Orthodox recruits.
Several politicians attended Sunday’s events to show support for those reporting for service, including Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Lieberman and reservist movement leaders Chili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel.
