World-famous American rapper Snoop Dogg was named brand ambassador of Seedo, an Israeli start-up specializing in the growth and harvest of cannabis, the company announced in a statement on Tuesday.
“We are working with Snoop Dogg on various platforms to better educate consumers about this innovative technology,” the statement read.
The rapper's role will be “to educate consumers about the environmental benefits and social opportunities of Seedo technology,” according to Seedo.
Founded in 2013, Seedo has developed a robot with artificial intelligence to independently grow cannabis plants at home, without pesticides or human intervention. The robot is capable of saving up to 90% of water used in the process.
As part of this collaboration, Snoop Dogg will work with the company to raise awareness of its technology, which monitors and tracks growth in real time by taking photos of the plants.
Calvin Broadus, who is known for his rapper pseudonym Snoop Dogg, is a well-known icon of cannabis cultivation, who launched his own brand of cannabis -- Leafs by Snoop -- in 2015. The rapper, who has a following of more than 36 million fans on his Instagram account, regularly uses social media to promote the use of cannabis and marijuana.
Broadus just celebrated his 48th birthday on Sunday, greeted in the occasion with a bouquet composed of 48 joints.
