A "research consultant" with the human rights organization Amnesty International is reportedly behind the outing of a Palestinian peace activist whom Hamas security forces arrested last week.

According to the New York Times, Hind Khoudary, who Amnesty International says is a Gaza-based "research consultant" and "worker" for the organization, is allegedly responsible for alerting Hamas officials to the activities of 38-year-old Rami Aman via social media.

According to The Times of Israel, Aman, founder of a politically independent organization called the Gaza Youth Committee, held a nearly two-hour meeting with Israeli activists on Zoom over a number of topics including the coronavirus on Tuesday.

After denouncing Aman on her Facebook page, Khoudary tagged three Hamas officials who subsequently issued an arrest order.

Hamas said over the weekend that it arrested Aman and a number of Palestinian peace activists on charges of "treason" after accusing them of trying to "normalize" relations with Israel.

Khoudary later deleted the post but remained unapologetic on Twitter, where she denounced "normalization" with Israel under any circumstances.

Human Rights Watch official Peter Bouckaert slammed Khoudary's actions as "disgusting" and said she should be "ashamed of herself" before kicking her out of a private Facebook group for Gaza-based journalists.

"It is disgusting that a so-called ‘journalist’ got an activist for dialogue arrested by Hamas," Bouckaert later wrote on Facebook.

"Hind was in a journalist group I run on Facebook and I kicked her out immediately. Conflicts are resolved through dialogue and understanding, not hatred. Feel free to disagree with me, I need to free up some friend space! You make peace with your enemy, not your friends," he added.

Aman's family said they have not heard from him since his arrest on Friday, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
