Abbas: UAE peace deal with Israel a 'stab in the back to Palestinians'
'Only Palestinians are allowed to speak on their own behalf,' Abbas railed during a press conference
The United Arab Emirate's decision to normalize ties with Israel is a "stab in the back of the Palestinian people," Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday evening.
Abbas made the comments while speaking at a press conference held in Ramallah and attended by representatives of the Gaza-based terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
"Only Palestinians are allowed to speak on their own behalf, especially regarding the Palestinian cause" of statehood and independence, the PA leader continued.
"We are not worried about the absurdities occurring here and there," Abbas railed, "especially in recent days, when a trilateral agreement between the Emirates, Israel and the United States has been announced."
He added: "The Emirates have turned their backs on everything: on the rights of the Palestinian people, on a Palestinian state, on the two-state solution and on the holy city of Jerusalem."
On Monday, Mohammed Shtayyeh, Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, said that Ramallah would boycott the World Expo scheduled for fall 2021 in Dubai, due to the agreement between the Emirates and the Jewish state.
