The United Kingdom’s Prince Charles called for greater efforts towards environmental protection on Thursday during the royal’s visit to Egypt’s pyramids.

“Like our rather more modest ancient stone circles in England, the pyramids remind us of a connection to our planet that we have over time forgotten,” the prince declared while observing the historic structures from a restaurant.

Earlier, he met with Al Azhar's Grand Imam, and the prince said he was reminded of several key Koran verses which talk about taking care of the planet.

The official discussed Islam’s emphasis on preserving nature, and called for the teachings to be put into practice.
