IDF destroys Khamenei's underground military bunker in Tehran
IDF says the Air Force used 50 fighter jets to strike a command complex beneath the Iranian leadership compound

The IDF said it carried out a major airstrike targeting an underground military bunker beneath the Iranian regime’s leadership compound in Tehran, describing the site as a key command center used by senior officials. The strike was conducted by approximately 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets guided by intelligence collected by the military’s Intelligence Directorate.
According to the IDF, the bunker was intended to serve as a secure emergency command center for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. The military said the facility was located beneath the regime’s leadership compound in central Tehran and was designed to allow the leadership to continue directing military operations during emergencies.
The IDF said the underground compound stretched across multiple streets and included numerous entrances and meeting rooms used by senior members of the Iranian leadership. It described the site as one of the Iranian leadership’s most important military command centers and said targeting it would further degrade the regime’s command and control capabilities.
Khamenei was eliminated earlier in the operation before he could use the bunker, although the compound continued to be used by other senior officials afterward.
The leadership compound has been targeted several times during Operation Roaring Lion. The site includes multiple government and security buildings, including structures used by the regime’s senior decision-making bodies and military institutions.
The military also said additional strikes earlier this week targeted other facilities in the compound, including the building used by the Supreme National Security Council, the structure housing the Assembly of Experts, and the main military academy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The IDF said the bunker strike followed a lengthy intelligence effort involving the Intelligence Directorate’s Research Division as well as Units 8200 and 9900. The military said the mapping of the underground structure enabled a precise strike carried out with more than 100 munitions.
