Report: Trump briefed on high-risk plan for transfer of enriched uranium from Iran, drawn up by U.S. military at his request
White House: 'It’s the job of the Pentagon to make preparations in order to give the Commander in Chief maximum optionality. It does not mean the President has made a decision'

The U.S. military has presented to President Donald Trump a plan for the seizure of nearly 1,000 pounds of highly enriched uranium in Iran, the Washington Post reported Friday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The high-risk scheme would reportedly involve flying in excavation equipment and building a runway for cargo planes to shuttle the radioactive material out of the Islamic Republic.
Trump, at whose request the plan was developed, was briefed on its details sometime during the past week.
“It’s the job of the Pentagon to make preparations in order to give the Commander in Chief maximum optionality. It does not mean the President has made a decision,” White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt replied in response to a query from the Washington Post.
