Iran issued new threats against the United States on Wednesday following recent US strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of a broader regional escalation.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran had adopted a military, diplomatic and economic strategy that would “break the foundations” of the United States.

“Despite all this commotion, you will not manage to escape from the infernal depths you have created,” Rezaei wrote on X.

Separately, Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, said passage through the Strait of Hormuz could be made conditional on the payment of war reparations.

Ghashghavi cited Article 7 of Iran’s law on the “intelligent management of the Strait of Hormuz,” saying countries, organizations and individuals Tehran holds responsible for wartime damage would be required to negotiate compensation arrangements with the Iranian government.

He did not explain how the measure would be enforced or specify which ships could be affected.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also claimed that it had attacked American facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Iraq. It separately announced that two oil tankers had struck a mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

Neither claim has been independently confirmed, and US or regional authorities did not immediately provide confirmation in the information available.

The latest rhetoric follows American strikes on several Iranian sites. US President Trump warned that any response by Tehran would trigger an “even harsher” attack against the Islamic Republic.
