Israel

The State of Israel was established in 1948, after the United Nations recognized its right to exist as a state in the territories of the Land of Israel. Israel borders Arab countries, and is at war with the Syrian regime to the northeast, Hezbollah in Lebanon to the north, and Hamas in the Gaza Strip to the southwest. It has peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan.
