IDF: Special forces thwart attempted attack by terrorists on Syrian border
No injuries reported to Israeli troops after combined air-ground assault neutralizes terrorists

The Israeli army foiled four terrorists trying to place a bomb on the Israel-Syria border, according to a statement early Monday morning.
"A short while ago, IDF [Israel Defense Forces] troops thwarted an attempt to place improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near the Alpha Line between Syria and Israel," the IDF spokesperson's unit said.
Soldiers of the Maglan special forces, according to Ynet, had taken up clandestine positions along the border when notified of the approaching squad.
"IDF troops on the southern Golan Heights, adjacent to an IDF post, spotted a terrorist squad placing explosive devices adjacent to the security fence," the IDF said.
"IDF troops and an IDF aircraft fired simultaneously toward the squad of four terrorists -- a hit was identified. No IDF injuries were reported."
The Israeli army maintained it holds the Syrian regime responsible for "all events on Syrian soil and will not tolerate any violation of Israeli sovereignty."
Hostile activity on the Jewish state's borders has increased as of late, Sunday night terminating several months of calm on its border with the Gaza Strip after a rocket was launched into Israeli territory. The IDF retaliated with strikes at a number of terrorist targets in the Palestinian enclave.
Last week, Israel's border with Lebanon flared-up after a Hezbollah squadron attempted to infiltrate into Israel. According to the IDF, the cell, which was fired at, fled back into Lebanon.
The Israeli military has been striking targets in Syria for more than three years, vowing to prevent Iran and its allies from maintaining a stronghold that threatens Israel's security.
