CENTCOM: 4 US soldiers killed in refueling plane crash over Iraq


The United States Central Command announced that a KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed during a flight in western Iraq. It was also reported that efforts are underway to locate the rest of the crew

CENTCOM confirmed four US service members dead after an American refueling plane operating as part of the war in Iran crashed Thursday in Iraq. CENTCOM said the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation but has ruled out hostile fire or friendly fire as causes. Six members are still unaccounted for.

The United States Central Command reported: "We are aware of the loss of an American KC-135 refueling aircraft. The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation 'Epic Fury,' and rescue efforts are ongoing. Two aircraft were involved in the incident — one of them crashed in western Iraq, and the other landed safely."

“This did not result from hostile fire or friendly fire,” emphasized US Central Command. “Additional information will be released as the situation develops. We ask for continued patience as we gather further details and provide clarity to the families of the service members.”
