Man arrested after approaching Yair Golan with knife in Tel Aviv
The Democrats party says security guards intercepted the man and a large knife fell from his clothing. Police have not disclosed the suspect’s intentions

A man was arrested Tuesday after approaching Yair Golan at HaMesila Park in Tel Aviv, where the Democrats party leader was campaigning to encourage voter turnout.
According to a statement from the party, Golan’s security team intercepted the man, and a large knife fell from his clothing. The guards subdued him and handed him over to police called to the scene.
Authorities have not specified the circumstances of the incident or the suspect’s intentions.
The party said police had raised the threat level against Golan to four on a six-point scale. It added that the Shin Bet had been providing his security since Monday, following a prolonged legal process.
“Incitement and violence will not deter us,” Golan said. He blamed the incident on what he called Prime Minister Netanyahu’s “poison machine” and urged Israelis to vote so that the country could once again become “a free and safe place.” Golan’s accusation was part of his political response; authorities have not substantiated it.
