Qatar announces major energy investment in Lebanon - report
Qatar hopes to build two power plants and supply the country with gas for 20 years

Qatar is planning to build two power plants in Lebanon over the next three years as well as supply Lebanon with liquefied natural gas for 20 years, Reuters reported on Monday.
Lebanon's state energy supplier is currently only capable of supplying electricity to Lebanese residents for a few hours a day, with the remaining electricity supplied by private diesel generators.
The National Integrated Energy Investment Program will require the approval of both governments. If approved promptly, the project could be completed within three years.
This plan adds to Qatar's financial expansion into the Levant with major Qatari investments planned for Syria which would involve Qatar supplying the country with conventional and solar power plants.
Previous reforms have stalled due to internal political bickering in Lebanon.
